Al-Mortaqa Organization was founded and registered in Jerusalem as a non-governmental non-profit organization by the two friends Asmahan Aweidah and Shereen Aweidah/Nammari , in response to the urgent needs of the society; Al-Mortaqa offers a supportive environment where women and young girls can work together sharing their personal growth and development in a process to acquire personal development skills.
The deteriorating environment accompanied by hard living situations and a noticeable gap in democracy and human rights especially women rights encouraged Al-Mortaqa Organization participants to learn assertiveness, gain self-confidence, find ideas and support, benefit from mentoring and gain encouragement and inspiration from the experience and achievements.Various projects are designed and developed among which directly deals with our mission and goals to fulfill the civil society needs educationally, culturally and economically.

A sovereign Palestinian society, which grants Palestinians women their basic rights, preserves their dignity, and enjoys recognition and respect.
MISSION
Al-Mortaqa seeks to create a supportive environment for women and children within various components of Palestinian society that encourage educational process and empowerment with a further engagement of local and international public on the Palestinian cause especially at Jerusalem; Al-Mortaqa adopts active and in-depth mechanisms to bring about positive change through creating opportunities that reach wider areas in Palestine.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
1. To bring about positive change in regard to the living situations of women and children.
2. To promoting learning and empower effective leadership within the women components of Palestinian society in order to enhance their situation, socially, and economically.
To help to improve health and psychosocial situations of the most vulnerable of the Palestinian community.
3. To monitor and influence policy and legislation to ensure their safeguarding and adherence to children & women civil and social rights.
4. To bolster Al-Mortaqa capacity and its capability to achieve its objectives and mission efficiently and effectively.
