History
“Juhoud for Community and Rural Development” was established in 2003 as Non-Governmental Organization; it was regularly registered under the code RA-2278-A at the Ministry of Interior. The NGO is currently located in the town of Birzeit.
Juhoud was chosen to reflect the organization’s mission of making every effort to change the Palestinian reality which is distressed by poverty and underdevelopment and afflicted by decades of oppression from centuries of trials for peace and prosperity.
Vision
Youth and women in marginalized areas are productively engaged - both economically and civically - in their communities and have a strong sense of belonging and national identity.
Mission
Juhoud is an independent non-governmental organization that was established in 2003. Juhoud is committed to supporting community development in marginalized and predominantly rural areas through promoting economic development, civic and community engagement, and life-long learning and training using a participatory approach that emphasizes self-reliance and focuses on youth and women while fostering a sense of national and community belonging.
Objectives
Juhoud projects and programs are aimed at achieving different objectives, at diverse levels on the basis of the final beneficiaries and targets. Generally speaking we look forward to the following bullet points:
1. To strengthen the economic development of programs which can support the agricultural empowerment, new job and profile creation, water solutions and environmental projects.
2. To highly support socio-cultural projects and initiatives for youths through trainings, capacity building activities, workshops, democracy and good governance programs.
3. To empower business development programs aimed at supporting youth and women towards self-employment.
4. To provide underprivileged individuals and families as well as impoverished communities with the financial and technical resources to plan and implement local projects.
5. To create new links and partnerships all over the Euro-Mediterranean zone while providing the Palestinian Civil Society with new possibilities, exchanges, knowledge and overviews.
