The Palestinian National Theatre/ Hakawati was officially opened in the city of Jerusalem on May 9, 1984, as the first Palestinian theater and cultural center specialist. It was established by the Hakawati theatrical group. Since the beginning of his work, the PNT was interested in making the theater a national platform to meet the cultural and artistic activity founded in Palestinian youth. its activities have evolved beyond the theaters objectives in the issue of maintaining Palestinian cultural heritage and the search for new ideas. Despite the suffering of the Palestinian National Theatre and other Palestinian institutions in jerusalem, due to offensive practices of the occupation and of being closed and harassed frequently; the inherent mass cohesion between the National Theatre and the audience in all the Palestinian territories and strong will has always been stronger than that done by the occupation policies.
